Benidorm is in the Marina Baixa, in Alicante province, and covers around 38.5 km² on the Mediterranean. The INE recorded 77,221 inhabitants on 1 January 2025. The city of Alicante is some 35-40 minutes away by road and Alicante-Elche airport about 38. Its street grid is compact and vertical, with areas such as Centro, Poniente, La Cala and Rincón de Loix. Along its shore you will find Levante, Poniente, Mal Pas, Cala del Tío Ximo and La Almadrava.
If you are looking to live here all year, there are several health centres, schools, supermarkets, buses and the TRAM, with the district hospital on the Benidorm-Villajoyosa road. Housing is mostly apartments and residential towers, although there are pockets of detached homes and new developments in Poniente and Levante. Benidorm combines permanent residence with a strong second-home presence, and around 30% of its residents are foreign. You also have Meliá Villaitana, the Port of Benidorm and the Serra Gelada Natural Park.
