Villajoyosa (La Vila Joiosa) is in the Marina Baixa, Alicante province, about 34 minutes by car from the city of Alicante (37 km) and some 35 minutes from Alicante-Elche airport (49 km). It had 36,891 inhabitants according to the INE on 1 January 2024. Its shoreline holds six Blue Flag beaches — Centre, Paradís, Bol Nou, La Caleta, Varadero and El Torres — the highest count in the Marina Baixa, alongside a fishing and leisure harbour that has been working for generations. The old town stands out for its colour-washed facades facing the sea, and the town is also home to the Valor Chocolate Museum.
Housing combines apartments in the town centre and on the seafront with townhouses and villas in urbanisations across the rest of the municipality, in both new build and resale. Villajoyosa takes in first and second homes alike, with foreign buyers alongside local residents tied to fishing and tourism.
