Los Balcones spreads inland along the CV-95, the road linking Torrevieja with San Miguel de Salinas and Orihuela. It is a development of streets and detached villas on generous plots, born of the planning schemes approved in 1964 and 1975, with one and two-storey buildings. Its gently sloping ground gives views towards the Torrevieja salt lakes from several points.
The neighbourhood works on its own: it has a Mercadona supermarket on avenida de Orihuela and the Parque Reina de la Sal as its main green space. The Hospital Universitario de Torrevieja is right beside it, on the same road, and urban bus line 02 — Hospital, Los Balcones and Lago Jardín — connects the development with the rest of the town.
