Sierra Cortina spreads across the slopes of the mountain of the same name, 522 metres high, which stands between the inland ranges and the coast. This is hillside, not flat ground: almost every street runs down towards the sea, and from many of them you can see the bay of Benidorm with its island, the Sierra Helada and, behind, the Puig Campana. Benidorm centre is about eight kilometres away.

The development combines villas and townhouses with the occasional apartment complex, several of them gated, with security and communal areas. In March 2026 Finestrat town hall renewed the street lighting here with close to 300 LED luminaires, part of a municipal programme that has already replaced more than half the lights in the town.
