La Cala is Finestrat's only beach, tucked between La Barreta and El Xoriguer — a rugged cliff to the south — and right up against the Benidorm boundary, some three kilometres away. It is 270 metres of fine sand and calm water, sheltered by the two headlands that close off the bay, with a promenade of wooden boardwalks, the Plaça de l'Àmfora and public parking for around a hundred cars.
This is an urban beach: hotels, restaurants and everyday shops right by the shore, with lifeguards, equipment hire and sports activities in summer — including the oldest beach volleyball tournament in the district, in mid-August. Tourist and seasonal use predominates, with life concentrated in the warm months.
