La Marina lies inland within the municipality of San Fulgencio, with no coastline of its own: the nearest beach is in Elche, about 3 km away, and San Fulgencio town centre is about 5.5 km away. It's a development of straight, wide streets, built from 1986 onward, mostly made up of villas, chalets and bungalows with private pools on generous plots.
It has 6,251 residents and 160 streets, more people than San Fulgencio town itself. It has its own shops, supermarkets and pharmacies, plus sports facilities and public swimming pools, with a strong presence of foreign buyers and residents looking for a quiet, year-round base.
