La Marquesa Golf

Ciudad Quesada, the large development in southern Rojales, born in the seventies alongside its own golf course.

Ciudad Quesada occupies the southern part of the Rojales municipal area, set apart from the old town and some six kilometres from the sea, with the beaches of Guardamar, La Mata and Torrevieja between six and ten kilometres away by road. It was built in the 1970s by the Spanish entrepreneur Justo Quesada, and it was he who in 1989 opened La Marquesa Golf next door — then the Quesada Golf Club — an 18-hole course that keeps a replica of the 17th at Sawgrass.
The housing is mostly detached homes, along with townhouses and apartments, spread across a good number of streets and sub-developments; the higher ground gains views, since the terrain is not level. It is an area with a strong foreign presence, British above all, with bars, restaurants, international schools and everyday shops geared to living here all year rather than only in summer.
