Altea Hills rises up the hillside, with the Sierra de Bernia behind and the bay in front, beside the N-332 and close to the AP-7. From its streets you can see the Mediterranean, the Peñón de Ifach at Calpe and, at night, the Benidorm skyline. A few minutes away are the Altea Club de Golf — founded in 1974 as Club de Golf Don Cayo — and the Luis Campomanes marina, also known as Marina Greenwich: the only port in the world on the zero meridian, with 542 berths. Both were built by the same man, Luis Campomanes.
This is a genuinely gated community, with controlled entrances and 24-hour private security, and its own conservation entity that also handles the gardening and street cleaning. The housing is luxury villas and detached houses, with the occasional apartment building, in small groups on generous plots. The Pierre & Vacances Altea Hills hotel is inside the development.
