Lo Pagán stretches along the Mar Menor, between Los Cuarteros to the north and the San Javier boundary to the south, right against the Salinas y Arenales regional park. Its Los Castillicos promenade runs along the shore beside La Puntica beach, with a jetty and a sailing club. The name comes from Pedro Pagán y Ayuso, a 19th-century landowner who built towers on his estate that looked like a castle.
The housing is mostly holiday and residential stock built from the mid-20th century, when the beach was enlarged with imported sand. A little over a kilometre and a half along the promenade, inside the regional park, are the mud pools beside the Molino de Quintán: the largest open-air mud-bath area in Europe, free to use. The neighbourhood has its own shops and restaurants right on the Mar Menor.
